Biography
Rob initially obtained a building degree in 1976. For the next 12 years he worked exclusively in the construction industry. His experience during this period included the design, documentation and supervision of large residential, industrial and commercial projects. For several years he was a Senior Project Manager for a large development agency. Thereafter he was the principal consultant of a management consultancy firm specialising in project, strategic and risk management.

In 1991 Rob undertook a masters degree in project management at the University of New South Wales. He gained the degree with honours for a research thesis on conflict management in the commercial environment. As a result of his interest in dispute resolution he commenced a part time law degree He also joined the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia and was accredited as both a mediator and arbitrator.

During the course of his part time law studies Rob served as a part time member first of the Building Disputes Tribunal NSW and then the Fair Trading Tribunal NSW. In this capacity he was responsible for the management and determination of a large number of residential building and construction matters. He also gained significant experience in assisting disputing parties to negotiate acceptable outcomes without the need for a final binding determination.

He is currently a Grade 2 Arbitrator and a referee on the District Court panel of referees for Part 28 references. He is also an experience arbitrator in the Local and District Courts. In this capacity he has presided over and determined a wide variety of matters including commercial disputes, debt recovery, professional and common law negligence, claims in connection with damage to property, nuisance and trespass.
